Nesbitt Contracting Co., a trusted leader in high quality road and street construction work in Phoenix announced that Joe Chavez will be named president of the company effective today. He will report to the CEO and the board of directors, comprised of a leadership team of five. The change marks the first time that the company will add an individual outside of the family-led Nesbitt leadership in its 60-year history. James Nesbitt will remain as CEO and will continue to be actively involved with the company.
Chavez, who will oversee all operations and departments for the 150-person company, brings 29 years of experience in the construction industry through his management of major highway, street and drainage projects, and aviation in the public and private sectors.
In Chavez’s 27 years at Nesbitt, his duties have included overseeing project and field operations, managing project managers, directing client communication, team preparation and job cost analysis. Under Chavez’s leadership, Nesbitt has been involved in hundreds of millions of dollars of local construction projects, thus driving the company to growth and becoming a familiar name in Arizona.
“Joe brings a lot of valuable experience to the president’s position,” said Nesbitt. “His leadership skills are appreciated by those he works with and I have the utmost confidence in his abilities to lead our company forward.”
