On Sept. 22, 2014, Hacienda HealthCare and RJM construction will host the groundbreaking ceremony for the new 24-bed, 20,900-square-foot children’s hospital in Mesa, Arizona. The hospital will feature:
· Four themed patient wings with unique floor cuts and patient room headwalls to synchronize with the themes
· Four indoor/outdoor healing gardens and family lounge/play areas
· Architecture to make the building child-friendly, such as bright colors and lights, and windows at children’s height
WHO: Ceremony speakers will include Gary Orman, President of Hacienda HealthCare Board of Directors; Bill Timmons, President and CEO, Hacienda HealthCare; Dennis Kavanaugh, Councilmember, District 3, City of Mesa; and John Giles, Mayor, City of Mesa. Notable guests: Kelly Townsend, Arizona State Representative, LD 16; Catherine Miranda, Arizona State Representative, LD 27; representatives from the office of US Senator Jeff Flake’s office; leaders from the Mesa Chamber of Commerce and Mesa United Way.

BACKGROUND: “Hacienda HealthCare was asked by East Valley physicians, parents, hospital CEOs and health care plans to establish a children’s hospital similar to our Phoenix hospital in this area,” said Hacienda HealthCare President and CEO, Bill Timmons. “We’re thrilled to break ground on this project, and appreciate RJM Construction’s efforts to get the hospital completed as quickly as possible.”
Construction will be complete in the summer of 2015. In addition to Hacienda HealthCare and RJM Construction, project partners include architect Devenney Group, Ltd. and construction manager CORE Construction.
