BH Properties, a Los Angeles-based firm that specializes in acquiring and repositioning challenged or distressed commercial real estate properties, has announced the promotion of Steven Jaffe to chief investment officer and principal of the firm. In this role, Jaffe is responsible for overseeing the acquisition and disposition strategy of the company as well as the company’s overall growth.
“In his 11 years with BH Properties, Steve has played an integral role in guiding our company’s success within the value-add marketplace, and will continue to fuel the growth of our company in his new role,” said Steve Gozini, president of BH Properties.
As a seasoned veteran in the commercial real estate investment industry, Jaffe has been closely involved in the firm’s acquisition strategy in the Southwest. Many of the properties acquired were distressed assets which the firm repositioned, including office space, retail centers, industrial complexes as well as multifamily properties.
Jaffe has been with BH Properties for 11 years, previously holding the title of executive vice president and general counsel. Jaffe previously held the general counsel position with Center Trust, a NYSE REIT, and was an attorney at Pircher, Nichols & Meeks and Russ August & Kabat, both Los Angeles-based law firms.
Jaffe is currently president of City of Hope’s Los Angeles Real Estate & Construction Industries Council, and is also involved with the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Jaffe earned his J.D. from the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, and his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
