SRS is pleased to announce that the new home to Mesa-based BBQ restaurant, Waldo’s BBQ will be on the northwest corner of Williamsfield Drive and Val Vista Road in Gilbert. This 5,151 SF freestanding building will be the second full-service restaurant for the BBQ favorite, who also operates two express locations in Phoenix. The new location’s anticipated grand opening date is Wednesday, September 6, 2017.
Waldo’s BBQ was established by Snowflake, AZ native, Clay Caldwell. Caldwell brought his award-winning pork smoking skills to Mesa, AZ in 1993. A friendly poker bet led to Frank Estadt joining the team as CEO in 2005 with a “master plan” for nationwide growth. Waldo’s BBQ offers a wide selection of menu items from Kansas City Pork Wings and Chicken Fritter Salad, to Beef Back Ribs and “Award-Winning” Peach Cobbler – plus a selection of BBQ sauces, that can be purchased by the gallon.
“We are excited to bring Waldo’s BBQ’s fun personality and quality menu to Gilbert. There was a lot of competition from local operators to national concepts for this site. Ultimately we were chosen after hosting a sit-down meeting at Waldo’s Mesa location between both tenant and landlord. This is a perfect example of how you can’t beat a quality face-to-face meeting over the dinner table (or lunch, in this case) versus relying solely on emails or conference calls to cultivate monumental and long-term business relationships,” says Scott Ellsworth of SRS.
