Shops at Southline Retail Center in Charlotte Wins Top Real Estate Deal in Heavy Hitter Awards

Shops at Southline retail center was named “top real estate deal” at the Charlotte Business Journal Heavy Hitters in Real Estate Awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 21. The program recognizes excellence in commercial real estate transactions and development across the region. Shops at Southline was completed in April 2015 by Stiles, a full-service real estate developer with offices throughout Florida and in Charlotte, NC.

Completed in March 2015, Shops at Shops at Southline is located at 2222 South Boulevard in Charlotte’s historic South End district. The center features a 55,000-square-foot Publix Super Market as well as 10,000 square feet of shops and restaurants. It is highly visible with more than 200 feet of frontage on South Boulevard, and within a one-mile radius of 18 future and existing multi-family developments totaling nearly 4,000 units.

“Shops at Southline represents the latest design and innovation in retail development,” said Chris Grenier, vice president of Stiles Development and Construction, North Carolina. “Unlike most Publix-anchored centers, Shops at Southline is an urban format with two levels of underground structured parking. While more complex in its design and development, this format lends to a true urban environment which brings further benefit to area residents.”

Winners are selected for superior achievement in eight categories, including Top Mixed-Use Development and Top Office Development. Finalists are also named in nearly every category. Shops at Southline, the only winner without a finalist in its category, is recognized on the basis of quality, innovation, and viability.

Shops at Southline has distinguished itself by achieving a near 100% lease rate. The center is currently leased to BB&T Bank and Supercuts, and Stiles Realty is in negotiations with other retailers for the remaining space. The center is Stiles’ third completed Publix-anchored retail development in Charlotte. The company is currently underway with its fourth Publix-anchored retail development as well as a 186-unit luxury apartment project.
