Overstreet is officially under construction.
The large-scale retail, dining and entertainment destination set to take shape in Downtown Chandler broke ground March 29, and the first phase of the sprawling, 77,000 square-foot space is expected to open for business sometime in early 2018. Phoenix-based LGE Design Build has taken on the role of general contractor for the undertaking, teaming up alongside project developer DBM Ventures, project designer Brick + West and project architect Cawley Architects.
Once complete, Overstreet will inject an influx of new employment opportunities to the area in addition to an abundance of new resources for shopping, working and playing. Anchoring the project is Flix Brewhouse, a full-service, first-of-its-kind addition to the Valley that combines feature films and an award-winning, in-house microbrewery, and a broad array of restaurants, retailers, fitness centers and other draws are also expected to set up shop at Chandler’s newest, most enviable address.
“It’s an undertaking unlike anything the city of Chandler or the surrounding area has seen in recent years,” said David Sellers, who serves as president and CEO of LGE Design Build. “With its ‘round-the-clock options for dining, shopping and entertainment and its easy proximity to several main Valley thoroughfares, Overstreet is sure to draw attention not only from the city of Chandler, but from the entire, surrounding East Valley community.”
Helping draw the eye to the Overstreet project will be a massive, large-scale pedestrian overpass and accompanying signage that serves as the project’s namesake while giving foot, stroller and bicycle traffic a chance to traverse through the property safely.
“When people are out and about nowadays, they’re increasingly looking for options where they can check off everything on their list with one stop,” Sellers said. “That’s exactly the type of experience we’re creating with Overstreet.”
