Modern Flames occupies about 23,000 square feet of the 43,000-square-foot building, 3525 E. Atlanta Ave. A metal fabrication center for AF Steel Fabricators, a division of Arizona Fireplaces, occupies the other 20,000 square feet. The Richardson family of Arizona own Modern Flames, Arizona Fireplaces and AF Steel Fabricators.

“Our new building increases our efficiency, consolidates our warehouses and creates a platform for anticipated future growth,” said Kris Richardson, president of Modern Flames.

Modern Flames’ pioneered the introduction of the contemporary linear electric fireplaces throughout North America in 2008. Since then, the company has grown rapidly. Modern Flames’ now supplies over 500 fireplace stores throughout the United States and Canada with their brand. They also have a number of commercial business clients including Wendy’s Corporation, Marriott International, Cineplex Entertainment & Tim Horton’s, to name a few.

The new building enables Modern Flames to store up to 50 shipping containers at a consolidated location. Modern Flames was previously located in a nearby building and spread their inventory across three warehouses in the Valley.

For AF Steel Fabricators, the new building will increase its fabrication capacity by about five times. AF Steel Fabricators is a local structural steel fabricator that supplies general contractors and homebuilders with steel.

The building features a bridge crane to move steel beams, a double loading dock and a concrete tarmac.

“LGE Design Build was thrilled to work along with Modern Flames and AF Steel Fabricators to construct a building that allows for greater efficiencies and output,” said David Sellers, president of LGE Design Build.

Cawley Architects of Phoenix served as the architect.

“The building exceeds our expectations. LGE Design Build and Cawley Architects, true partners in construction, listened intently to how to deliver on our output needs,” said Don Richardson, president of Arizona Fireplaces.
