Approaching its first anniversary this July, Earnest has set the bar high for neighboring restaurants in the Chandler area at The Promenade at Fulton Ranch.
Earnest opened in the space that formerly was Cork, an upscale restaurant that closed its doors. At the time, Chandler resident Danielle Morris saw an opportunity to redefine that space for the same reason she moved to the Ocotillo neighborhood: she couldn’t afford the prices in Scottsdale. She had a similar thought about the restaurant scene: why couldn’t she enjoy great restaurants without heading north? With the diverse mix of tenants and busy intersection, The Promenade at Fulton Ranch seemed ideal for the location.
“My friends and I love dining out, but found ourselves disappointed with the food in our area, which meant we had to head to Scottsdale or Phoenix,” Morris said. “My restaurant aimed to create a new dining experience in our neighborhood that we were craving. In the last year, it has done just that.”
An acclaimed pastry chef, Morris created the concept for Earnest, an upscale yet casual neighborhood restaurant featuring simple and delicious comfort food with a twist. All of the food at Earnest is made from scratch. From brined double-cut, bone in pork chop, zucchini cakes with crab, fried soft boiled eggs, braised beef shortribs “stroganoff” also known as country pate, Earnest’s straightforward and limited menu matches the restaurant’s comfortable ambiance.
Of course, her background as a pastry chef shines in her desserts, especially her banana cream pie, which has stayed on the menu by popular demand.
